Dec 23, 2008 - i was 17 when this song came out..it was and is an anthem for many young american girls...pure brillance! But why are we soo hard on ourselves. All you young girls out there.. HOLD YOUR HEADS UP..this all will pass and you'll be ok..you really will.

atomatoface Says:

Dec 23, 2008 - also a lot of people hate highschool..but when you're older you'll see it really is a short time and the world IS much bigger than the wall of your school.

Dec 24, 2008 - Sometimes referred to as the original Jewel [Gee, thanks], singer/songwriter Janis Ian was only 15 years old when she scored a hit record in 1067 with her depressing interracial love song "Society's Child". Not wishing to rest on her teenage laurels, she outdid herself in a big way, breaking number 3 the 1975 with "At Seventeen", a self-loathing lounge song that tempted a whole generation of teenage girls to shove their heads into trash compactors.

Dec 25, 2008 - That's oh so true.

Dec 26, 2008 - What an amazing song this is with a fantastic tune as well - from way back when they could still write real tunes :-)

ElvenDane Says:

Dec 26, 2008 - Well, maybe there is still hope for you after all ? ;-)

Dec 28, 2008 - Yeah, I like her music, even if she is into LGBT. I wonder if her high school experiences&anything that had her singing about problems w/ her parents got her feeling gay. U can attribute all 2 temperament what is really a result of nurture acting on nature. U can become a superconservative, socially, because U R an idealist&a non-conformist¬ 'cause of religion (or vice versa for social liberals)&so weak parents' sins may make you feel or act oppositely as a rebellion. U might lose it, then.

fool1shmortal Says:

Dec 28, 2008 - I did experiment as a depressed teen with those teenage confusions, but don't believe in homosexuality as a nature issue, though more like a reaction to something gone awry in nurture. I never even heard of LGBT as a teen, but an organization celebrating it is like a bar for those with alcohol problems.

Dec 28, 2008 - I love this song. This takes me back to when life was simpler. I dedicate this song as sad as it was to my parents when they were still together.

Hydra003 Says:

Dec 29, 2008 - Since when is homosexuality comparable to alcoholism?

fool1shmortal Says:

Dec 29, 2008 - It's a sickness of the mind perceived by the afflicted as ok. Those who lived the gay life before turning straight, atheist reporters that witnessed the miracle of the sun at Fatima and macroevolutionists who become creationists get the same from liberals. "La, la, la, la...I'm not listening....It's not true because I don't want to listen to anything but what feels good...la, la, la".

Dec 31, 2008 - My generation, and yeah, she hit the nail on the head for those times. We weren't quite as socially sophisticated as teens are now. A beautiful bittersweet reminder of those crazy years. She was an icon back then.

Wolfiespeaks Says:

Dec 31, 2008 - One of the greatest songs of all time. One of those songs you never tire of. As fresh as when I first heard it in the 70's.
