This video is a Neal Adams animation about his theory that the Earth is growing. This collides with the Pangea theory. Watch it, you will be amazed.

Jan 7, 2009 - Of course the convection doesn't take place in magma. It takes place in the upper mantle, which is in geological terms something completly different from magma. In the astenophere material, due to the high temperature and pressure, behaves ductile. That is why convection can take place. Even Dziewonski considers convection a major force in plate tectonics. I have no idea why you would reference him. And in earth sciences convection is for sure not on a subordinate place I can tell you.

Dicky12mint Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - If you watch his videos on the formation of the himalayas, you realise how pathetic this theory is. The Variscan Orogeny was the reason for the mountain building , not the expanding earth recurving blah blah. Also the theory of the dinosaur extinction, ever heard of the K-T boundary neal?!

jlettis Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - Blackmark52- Why is it then we have the stars expanding and collapsing or growing and shrinking. What is the mechanism behind that? How can everyone discount the young sea floor and the fact that the continents fit together because they can't understand a mechanism? Is that how science works? If you can't explain something observable then you close your eyes and refuse to look at it? I don't want any part of that kind of "science".

jlettis Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - And yes things can just appear out of seemingly nothing. It's like the frog in the well, he can't imagine the ocean. Asking modern scientists looking at the universe from a multidimensional view is like asking the frog in the well to understand the vastness of the ocean. Not likely to happen, the frog in the well will continue to insist there is no water beyond the well. That's what we have here, a lot of narrow, shallow world views.

Jan 7, 2009 - Max, No, If you took the time to analize ot Those are the THREE choices, basically. If there was another choice, someone in 20,000 letters would have mentioned it. You are a NAY-SAYER. You contradict anything I say, simply for the sake of contradicting me. It's quite preposterous.

Preacha1111 Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - The law of conservation of matter shows that the quantity of matter cannot be increased or decreased. Matter can be converted into other forms but the amount of matter does not hange. Therefore it isn;t possible for the earth to "grow" it is possible for it to expand though. THis expansion can be seen as growth if one chooses to call it that but nametags are irrelevant.

Casmige Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - Here's a startling but neat theory:- Maybe the Earth is Hollow....!!@@!! & it is Merely expanding outward due to centrifugal forces & also via the expulsion of the Magma. Just respectfully throwing something else into the mix... Please juggle & correct me, please...

Agogaraxis Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - stars radiate so why not planets in the form of solid matter(theres lots of pressure under our feet).

Blackmark52 Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - Stars are balls of flaming gas hundreds of times larger than the earth. A simple conceptual comparison of a balloon and a rock should be able to tell you which is more susceptible to changes in size. There is no reason to "discount" the young sea floor. That is accounted for in plate tectonics. The proponents of this "theory" are closing their eyes to a very big flaw. If the claim is that the earth has grown, the very first thing addressed should be why and how is it growing.

MorituriMax Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - neal, "Max, No, If you took the time to analize ot Those are the THREE choices, basically. If there was another choice, someone in 20,000 letters would have mentioned it. You are a NAY-SAYER. You contradict anything I say, simply for the sake of contradicting me. It's quite preposterous." Maybe they just don't have the time to waste here like me and dave. And neal, another possibility why I always contradict everything you say, is that everything you say is wrong. Ever consider that? Cheers!

MorituriMax Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - neal, "You are a NAY-SAYER. You contradict anything I say, " What's really funny is that you yourself nay-say everything else anyone here says that contradicts anything YOU say.

Simonttg Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - my only problems with this are A. where did the water come from? B. where did the increase in mass come from? First law of science, mass cannot be created or destroyed. Something can't just grow unless its gaining something, and for the a PLANET to grow like that, it would need a HELL-OV-A-LOT of mass to do so. Good try, but this kinda discovery would be made public in a science magazine before it hit youtube... remember just cuz you read it doesn't make it true

aerobique Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - "my only problems with this are A. where did the water come from?.." It is ice from space.

nealadamsdotcom Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - MorituriMax No Max. even if some, and , let's say, a lot was wrong. Much benign stuff I say is factual and common, BUT you find disagreement with EVERYTHING. It's not a reflection on me, but on YOU Max. I am not a Nay-sayer. I have a THEORY which disagrees with much of standard theory, To these I say nay. What else would I do? I'm presenting a THEORY. Finally, there are the three.

nealadamsdotcom Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - Preacha1111 Prime Matter is 95% of the matter universe.

thecheesypig Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - have you ever thought that we might be wrong? Just look at history. Again, and again, and again, and again, science and people's ideas were ridiculessly off. The ignorant one would say that in this age we dont make those sorts of mistakes. Well guess what, they have been saying that since always. In 1900 the patent office almost closed because they though almost everything useful was already invented. BE OPEN TO DIFFERENT IDEAS. Who knows what's in the center of earth?

midiman16 Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - Maybe the energy of sun is making it grow. Sun throws a lot of energy towards the earth. Where does it all go???? Maybe in this process the water is created somehow. As the earths core is growing, when it comes in touch with the surface, it cools down and forms land under the ocean.

thecheesypig Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - we dont know at all what is under our feet. Everyone says we gotta go to space to learn about the universe. Well the truth is that we should reinvest those funds into drilling down. We have only seen about 0.2% of whats below earth's crust. Who is to say there is a force beyond comprehension underneath us. Remember, it unimaginnably hot underneath, where is all that head coming from?

bizarronealadams Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - earth am shrinking. Me figured out it used to be size of the sun but am getting smaller. Once man used to walk on all fours fighting gravity. Now us can walk due to lesser gravity. trio particle destruction am responsible for destruction of all matter. It am true

markaamorossi Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - some of that shit was completely idiotic. some made sense. but the bottom line is that you can't argue anything unless you have real facts that have been PROVEN to back you up.

moomother12345 Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - this thing is bullshit there were no facts that were proven or backed up by any scientist

candr Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - LOL I suppose he has forgotten that a lot of the land has remains of sea life when it was under oceans. According to this what you see today was above the ocean all the time.LOL

da8iwr Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - Candr - Exactly, chalk, granite, sand stone and lime stone was made under water. The new land he showed off the west coast of the Americas, has scores because it is moving to the west, the earthquake zone!!. This means it is new land, as it was only formed in the last millions of years. This is nonsense.

jacksoncapper Says:

Jan 7, 2009 - A. Where water came from is a good question, but not relevant to expanding earth theory. The same question occurs regardless of whether tectonic plates are responsible for land formations, or the physical size of the earth. The same theories also apply, eg. ice meteorites, or an abundance of hydrogen ect. B. There is actually no gain in mass. The density of the planet has simply decreased in favour of a larger size. A highly dense compact body gives itself reason to naturally expand.
