Nov 25, 2008 - LOL. You know this train is very high technology and like any high tech transport mean a big part of the budget is dedicated to safety. Hundreds maybe thousands of high speed trains are in service everyday in France for 20 years now and u know what : ZERO KILLED. Safety cannot be 100% but I can assure you those trains are super safe.

Nov 26, 2008 - i once got to ride in one of those :D when i got off the train, there was a dead bird stuck in the intake filter xD

Nov 27, 2008 - Hey, safety isn't a major issue for a speed test like that, but the french TGV runs on dedicated high speed lines designed for that kind of speed, But yeah, 400mph in a train, fantastic. Never happen in the UK.

Nov 27, 2008 - that is 1 fast train there!

Dec 1, 2008 - Impressive, but NOT the worlds fastest train. 1. Japan's JR-Maglev is the fastest train, at 581kmph. 2. Transrapid is the fastest train which carries passengers (in China). 3. Siemens Valero is the fastest commercially operated wheeled train. 4. TGV is the fastest wheeled train. Air resistance is so high at those speeds, it would be totally uneconomical. With the exception of Transrapid, which actually runs over 500kmh normally, its expensive though!!
NorskeDivision Says:
Dec 1, 2008 - I'm sure TGV engineers (or Germany's highspeed ICE) could build something that would break 620km/h. Get a long stretch of straight track, increase aerodynamics, and put even more powerful engines on with non-standard gearings. There'd be NO point in doing this though... air resistance is the SQUARE of speed, so this is ONLY to showoff. Building a faster train shouldn't be the focus. We need to focus on building a rail network to accomodate fast trains/making it cheaper. THAT is the challenge.

Nov 25, 2008 - Actually it already happened. Some saboteur puts concrete bars in the middle of the railway, the train passed over it and left the rail at a speed of more than 300 Km/h. The train stayed in one piece and any people were injured.
