Recent reports claim that Russia have new cities with similar activities and they are as reclusive as these were. In fact, Russian scientists acknowledge that these new cities exist. But they won't tell anything about them.

It was said on a documentary that aired on TV, not something over the net. "And how are you going to prove to me that there are secret cites that the public don't know anything about, hm?" Nov 16, 2008 - No... noone uses uranium for bombs. Uranium bombs are inherently unsafe and rather ineffeicient. But you are correct in that the RBMK's could be used for making plutonium, which is a weapons material.

Nov 16, 2008 - Yes, there are people that work at and around the plant. Currently in the planning- and design-phase is the New Safe Confinement, which will be built by the French consortium Novarka. This will be a big concrete arc over the reactor and the sarcophagus. Currently the plans say it'll be done in 2012. After that is in place, they will start dismantling the crumbling sarcophagus and the broken reactor.
