Dec 24, 2008 - its called a Glow Plug. It assists to make a complete and clean combustion with the already astronomical compression ratio of 17:1

Dec 27, 2008 - i hope the boxer engine block can handle higher combustion temps and pressures as thats the whole idea of a diesel engine, would love to here how it sounds probley got heaps of mufflers anyway truth will tell once its on sale and how many are sold

Jan 5, 2009 - This engine don't give nothing new or revolutionary!!! yes it's first subaru diesel, and yes they chose B4 form(because they are unable to put another configuration in their platform-chasis) BUT it's only form of cylinders!!!
odzadze123 Says:
Jan 5, 2009 - I forgot it is their first,so we se how this product is good and durable (considering that subaru don't have Tradition and Expirience)
e666d Says:
Jan 6, 2009 - did i see it right when it looked like 2 cylinders fire at the same time in a "x" or was it just close like other 4cyl????? years ago a guy i knew had an old 2cyl motorcycle engine that fired at the same time he said they stopped making them because the vibrated alot??
1pinchipendejo Says:
Jan 7, 2009 - In response to rotor13, the only job a glow plug has is to help with cold starts. They heat up the intake air before starting the engine as to assist in igniting the vaporized diesel fuel. Once the engine is started and at least semi-warmed up, the glow plug system serves no purpose whatsoever. The high compression ratio is all they need to ignite the fuel afterwards.
TY1ON Says:
Jan 7, 2009 - Does any one have any specs on the crank used in this engine? I know its a 86mm stroke but does any one know what size main and big end bearing it uses?
splashie777 Says:
Jan 8, 2009 - i love subaru but no offence to them, its an ugly f****** engine.
JLCVDUB Says:
Jan 9, 2009 - They are not the only ones that use the boxer engine.
fordmoparguy Says:
Dec 16, 2008 - or glow plugs but i think those are actually direct injectors
